Council seeks to ban nudity in sauna. A local authority wants to crackdown on nudity at a local single-sex sauna. Council officials in Rawtenstall, Lancashire, say they became worried after an incident involving two naked men. One councillor was in the sauna when the hanky-panky took place, but he is to oppose moves to crackdown on nudity. Jeff Cheetham told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "There were two men engaging in sexual activity and I told them to stop and get out before I called the police." Officers were later called in after staff became aware that the sauna might have been unwittingly advertised in a gay contact magazine. Councillor Cheetham said that while sexual activity must not take place in public, sauna users should not be punished by having to wear clothes. He said: "I feel very strongly about this issue, as do a lot of sauna members. I do not see why there should be a dress code."
